Description

Bordiga Centum Herbis is a complex Italian alpine herbal liqueur from Piedmont, with its name translating to “100 herbs” in Latin. Mint, licorice, gentian, wormwood, dried mushroom, turmeric, dandelion root, and other mountain botanicals create a profile that is fresh, floral, bitter, and deeply herbal. Bottled at 28% ABV, it is a useful lower-proof alternative for customers exploring Chartreuse-style cocktails.

Producer

Bordiga was founded in 1888 by Pietro Bordiga in Cuneo, at the foot of the Piedmontese Alps. The distillery is known for working with botanicals harvested in the Occitan Alps, where alpine flowers, herbs, and roots grow in clean mountain conditions. Bordiga’s spirits and liqueurs keep a strong regional identity, connecting old Piedmontese recipes with careful botanical sourcing.

Cocktail Suggestions

Bordiga Centum Herbis can be used as a Green Chartreuse substitute in a Last Word with gin, maraschino liqueur, and fresh lime juice. It brings a fresher, more floral herbal profile than Green Chartreuse, so the cocktail feels slightly lighter while still keeping the drink’s essential botanical complexity.

It is also a strong fit for a Bijou with gin, sweet vermouth, and orange bitters. Centum Herbis adds mint, licorice, gentian, and alpine herb notes, creating a layered stirred cocktail with a softer herbal punch than the traditional Green Chartreuse version.
