Combier Elicser is a historic French herbal liqueur with a golden color, warm spice, and deep botanical complexity. Aloe, nutmeg, myrrh, cardamom, cinnamon, saffron, and other herbs and spices create a profile that is aromatic, bittersweet, and intensely layered. Producer

Combier was founded in Saumur, France in 1834 and remains one of the Loire Valley’s historic distilleries. Jean-Baptiste Combier created his famous Triple Sec there, then later developed Elicser after meeting Dr. François-Vincent Raspail while imprisoned under Napoleon III. Combier says the recipe was pulled from its 177-year-old archives and re-released in individually numbered bottles.

Combier Elicser can stand in for Green Chartreuse in a Last Word with gin, maraschino liqueur, and fresh lime juice. Its spice, saffron, and herbal depth give the cocktail a warmer profile, while the citrus and cherry notes keep the drink bright and balanced.
