Description

Cynar 70 is the higher-proof version of the classic Italian artichoke amaro, delivering deeper bittersweet intensity, dark herbal character, and a smoother, more spirit-forward texture than standard Cynar. Artichoke leaves remain the defining ingredient, supported by a guarded botanical recipe. Cynar was launched in Italy in 1952 by Venetian entrepreneur Angelo Dalle Molle and is now part of the Campari Group portfolio. The name comes from Cynara scolymus, the botanical name for artichoke, which gives the liqueur its distinctive identity. Cynar’s secret recipe has helped it become one of the benchmark Italian bitter liqueurs for bartenders and amaro drinkers.

Cynar 70 is a strong fit for a Black Manhattan with rye whiskey and aromatic bitters. Used in place of sweet vermouth, it adds artichoke bitterness, dark herbs, caramelized depth, and enough proof to keep the cocktail structured and spirit-forward.
