Description

Lillet Rouge is a French red wine-based aperitif from Bordeaux with ripe berry fruit, citrus peel, soft spice, and a gently bitter finish. Made with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, natural fruit infusions, and cinchona, its cuvées spend several months in French oak to soften and mature. Bottled at 17% ABV, it is best served chilled, in spritzes, or as a cocktail modifier.

Producer

Maison Lillet was founded in 1872 by brothers Paul and Raymond Lillet in Podensac, just south of Bordeaux. Lillet built its reputation around aromatized wine aperitifs made from Bordeaux wines and fruit infusions. Lillet Rouge was created in 1962 for the American market, where red wine had strong appeal, giving the historic French aperitif house a darker, richer expression.

Cocktail Suggestions

Lillet Rouge is a natural fit for a Lillet Rouge Spritz with tonic water, club soda, or sparkling wine and a slice of orange or grapefruit. The bubbles lift its red fruit and citrus notes, while the aperitif’s gentle bitterness keeps the drink refreshing before dinner.
